TextBlue Support for Bluetooth Access Points
« on: April 10, 2010, 08:13:40 PM »
Hi,

Is the Sena MPS-1000 bluetooth access point supported by TextBlue? The MPS-1000 does not connect via USB, it uses a Ethernet connection, so I am curious as to how would TextBlue (TB) will find the BT device.

How would I go about sending a campaign frin TB to the BT access point? do I use the Bluetooth AP ip adress or do I use the "device name" for the Bluetooth AP.  Lastly, within the BTAP there are 4 antennas would your application allow me to specified via which antenna I can send the campaign?

Regards,
Rafter

Hi,

No, TextBlue does not support any AP. It works with USB Bluetooth dongles only.

Hi Mike,
The USB bluetooth opion only pairs with one device at the time, Is there a way to send campaigns to a number of phones concurrently, say 28 phones at the same time.

Rafter

You are absolutly right. Any Bluetooth device can pair only with one other bluetooth device at a time. However, any bluetooth dongle can send to more than one device at the same time.

I do strongly recomend to read something about bluetooth technology before asking such questions. Otherwise your questions looks very unprofessional.

Also, forum search works very good. And all the questions your asked for were discussed more than twice on this forum. Please user search before ask the same question.

What kind of a repy is that????   I beg to disagree with you, there is nothing unprofessional about the question I asked.

I do however, find very unprofessional and immature that rather than answering my question, you (the product provider) choose to divert the answer and send me to a forum to look for an answer, well that is not an acceptable answer, and shows very poor customer service & support.

Furthermore, what is the purpose of the Textblue forum? I mean you guys developed the software, I would expect that you or your team would be able to answer related questions or at least point to existing links with answers to the questions, that would seem more than reasonable to me.

Lastly allow me to clarify, I have a Sena Parani-UD100 and after extensive testing, for an upcoming project, I can tell you that your application DOES NOT send campaigns to more than one device, I mean the bluetooth stack discovers many devices, but as far as sending campaigns, the send process it only handles one device at the time, thus the reason why I asked my perfectly valid question.

Given your terrible and unnecessary terse response to my valid posting, I will resume my search and evaluation for another product to purchase.

Hi Rafter

The situation is the SENA MSP 1000 access point is a Linux based AP, the TextBlue Software is a Windows based platform and therefore does not work on the MSP 1000.

We do however offer a software platform which runs specifically on the MSP 1000 (TextBlue Broadcaster) , the software runs on the MSP 1000 itself and in order to program the device, you would need to connect to the MSP 1000 through an ethernet cable and configure using a Internet Browser.

The software uses all 4 antennae s at the same time and the software doesn't allow you to choose which one specifically you would like to use as the software chooses the best ones for optimum performance.

Finally you mention problems with the MSP 1000 with regards to sending simultaneous messages, the dongle is shipped with Toshiba drivers which i would recommend switching for Windows drivers for best performance.

Thanks
