Bluetooth LE development

Hi,

I use your vcl component library successfully to provide bluetooth interaction in a Windows application with custom hardware (we have been performing simple passes of encrypted message strings). Now, we wish to develop a more real time communication layer using Bluetooth LE 4.x. I saw on a separate topic, that you are currently developing a version of the vcl that supports Bluetooth LE. Before, I look at writing my own Delphi LE comms layer for this new project on windows 8 or investigating the rad studio XE7 bluetooth component set, I was wondering if you would have any rough timeline as to your development of LE comms support?

Hi,

We have added BLE suppot in WCL but in first it will work with BlueSoleil (as only BSD provides full BLE support). The release should be availbale in January (it is in extensive tests now). The we probably add MS support on Win 8 (it has very limited BLE support, does not allow to discover BLE devices and so on).

Would you have any news at all on the BLE supported release? I am just looking at this project now and happy to try beta initially if available?

It's finally done however it's a lot of new features coming so it has not been released yet. I update you immediately when it will be available.

Hi,

Please, find attached new WCL version with basic BLE support. The BLE support works only with BlueSoleil Bluetooth drivers. It allows to

* Discover BLE Enabled devices;
* Enumerate it's service;
* Read services's charcteristics;
* Read characteristic's value;
* Read characteristic's descriptors.
