I am using your demo app. I am able to connect and subscribe to the heart rate 2A37 but I never get change notifications.

Hi,

To be able to receive notification it is no enought to just "subscribe". You also have to tell your device that you are interested in notifications. To do that you must write Client Configuration Descriptor. In GattClientDemo app just click Write CCD subscribe button.
