Removing ATL dependency
« on: May 06, 2014, 05:34:12 PM »
Hi,
Would you consider removing the partial dependency on ATL?
Currently ATL is only provided with commercial version of Visual Studio what significantly increases the cost of implementing your marvelous library in our projects which are based on Qt.

Hi,

Actually WCL uses only CAtlString class from ATL. I think we can remove CAtlString from WCL but it takes time and may cost some money.

Would be greatly appreciated. I understand that it will take some time. What do you mean by "may cost some money"?

I mean that we can not do it for free as this is custom modification which requires separate support.

I understand. Please state the cost. Also I would like to know how you would like to solve this: if this  will be a separate edition (as C++, .NET etc.) or will just replace the C++ edition or if it will be just one time modification done for us?

I can not say now how much it may cost. Yes, it will be one time modification for you. At least I have no plans to make this modification available for public. At least for now.

Will we get updates with this modification at least as long as we pay subscription fee?

Hello,

We have discussed modification you asked for. Unfortunately it does not look cheap. All the modifications may take up to 2 weeks and it looks like a little bit expensive changes. It may cost up to $700. If that is ok for you let me know so we can start.
